      G. Allen Johnson San Francisco Chronicle In his first film Coimbra already appears to be a master of the cinematic tightrope walk, weaving flashbacks and detective work in an energetic and pleasingly sleazy manner (this is, after all, a modern noir). Rated: 3/4 Jul 16, 2015 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Though a strong director of actors, Coimbra is significantly less assured as a visual stylist. Jun 4, 2015 Full Review Pablo Villaça RogerEbert.com Surprisingly extracting humor out of a incredibly serious and dramatic situation, the film is especially benefited by the flawless performances of Leal, Cortaz and Nascimento. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 27, 2015 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh The all-too-real premise and its emphasis on drama makes the payoff of more disturbing things at play feel all the more unsettling. Rated: 4/5 Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Javier Ocaña El Pais (Spain) The structure of the film, made through flashbacks through the police interrogation, capture the interest of the viewer since the first minute. Daniel G Totally life-like - don't mess with a lover if you aren't going to have real long-lasting intentions. That which wasn't detailed wasn't necessary to make this a strinkingly told story. Leandra Leal was just perfect - all actors were naturals. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/10/22 Full Review Audience Member Complex characters brought to life by vivid performances are the soul of Fernando Coimbra's contemporary tragedy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is the Brazilian version of Fatal Attraction, if not more deadly. I am sorry for the little girl but that's the consequence of messing with a woman with nothing to lose. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a reasonably good movie. Usually, movies set in Rio are focused on the poor who reside in favelas. This characters in this film are all middle-class people. What started off as ho-hum took an unexpectedly dark turn. Unforgettable movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A Wolf at the Door is a dark indelible drama that dares to show the bad side of an extramarital affair. The tension explodes with a shocking and terrifying outcome. This intense, painful movie lingers in the memory for a long time.
