C.A. Lejeune Guardian It is not pretty. Chaplin never meant it to be. But it is horribly true. Mar 1, 2017 Full Review Richard Brody New Yorker Chaplin's manner is deft and witty, but the depiction of unchecked wealth and the moral rot it breeds links this drawing-room romance to the fierce political comedies in which he stars. Apr 2, 2013 Full Review TIME Magazine For some years great groups of the illuminati have been proclaiming Charles S. Chaplin an artist. Yet our good old uncles and funny old aunts, who really knew about custard pies, demurred. Apr 2, 2013 Full Review Jules Caldeira Film Inquiry A Woman of Paris is a romantic drama that is equal parts engaging and tragic, with performances that are as impactful today as they were a century ago. Jun 25, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Like most of Chaplin's films, the ending is simply superb, revealing a sense of the titular fate taking a turn for welcome satisfaction. Rated: 8/10 Aug 1, 2020 Full Review TV Guide The picture's effectiveness is enhanced by several comic touches. Rated: 3.5/4 Apr 2, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews

Tamara K It's amazing how a film this old can still be so relevant today. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Watch this if: You're a fan of classic cinema, silent films, and the inimitable Charlie Chaplin. In a departure from his usual work, Charlie Chaplin directs a sad but rather satisfying silent drama about a tragic romance, following a woman (Edna Purviance) who is torn between two lovers. It is a compelling work from one of cinema's greatest directors, who also composed the wonderful score. While at times the pacing is a little slow, it is still engaging, and finishes in what we consider to be one of the best endings of a film by Chaplin. Shout out to the gorgeous Adolphe Menjou and his fabulous moustache! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member though directed and written by Chaplin he doesn't appear in this pic except a brief walk on... see if u can spot him. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Literally starting this movie with a warning that he is not in it Chaplin is up front about his not being in this movie. Its a serious drama film, not one of his whimsical comedies. Starring Edna Purviance on her own, the movie is a sharp, depressing drama about one woman trying to find her place in the world. Its a bit slow at times, but ultimately still watchable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Touching B/W silent drama about a woman in the pursuit of real happiness.Bravo,Chaplin Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Chaplin's first foray into serious film ends up being a little too heavy handed and cliche in spots. In fact, the lighthearted nature of his other films and directing do peek out in a few scenes, showing that you will always excel in something you're good at.
