Audience Member Abnormal Beauty is a slow burn that takes awhile to get going. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Premesse interessanti ed alcuni momenti stilosi, ma poi cala fino ad un finale troppo fiacco Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Quite a serious and unsettling film about a girl who becomes obsessed with photographing scenes of death, she starts to receive photos and videos of death and torture scenes, and investigates. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautful film! This movie puts you in a trance and yoi cant look away! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Jin (Race Wong) is a young and talented photography student with several accolades for her photographs, but is dissatisfied with her own work. But when she witnesses a car crash leaving one person dead she takes pictures, and soon after becomes infatuated with photographing death. This in turn sets her down a self destructive path which brings out old wounds from a traumatic event in her childhood. With the help of her close friend and romantic interest Jas (Rosanne Wong), she starts taking steps toward facing the trauma and healing. But this is short lived when disturbing video tapes from a stalker start showing up which could either be realistic snuff videos or actual documentaries of young women being murdered on video. This is not your typical crime thriller where a girl is stalked and calls the police. The overall aesthetic style and pace of the film coincides with the equally aesthetic plot of a young girl obsessed with death from an artistic viewpoint, who in turn becomes the subject herself at the hands of a seemingly sadistic stalker. Good movie, but the style of the film and the plot may not be for everyone. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I had no idea what this film would be like going in and half way through the film, I still wasn`t sure what kind of film I was watching. Is this a horror film, love story, torture porn, comment on the arts, ghost story, or perhaps, a little of all of the above? The film sure did have me guessing and if you have expectations of a certain genre or subgenre going in, you may find yourself disappointed. If you go in thinking about art and it's many forms, how they mingle and meld and can change based on ones perception than this film might make a bit more sense to you. Overall it's not a bad movie, I'm just not sure it knew where it was going to finish when it first started... much like an artist dealing with a blank canvas.
