matthew d One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Dialogue bad enough to melt skin. Plot about as believable as perpetual motion. You could generate more entertainment by staring at the bottom of a dirty garbage can. The ending about as sensible as an orientation at a concentration camp. I watched it a couple of years ago and just recently watched it again and it was still just as good. It is about this couple, who just recently met, sailing somebody’s boat to San Diego. The couple is met by a brutal storm that completely destroyed the boat and left them both injured. I trust that the portrayal of this event is accurate because it was based on a true story. Tami Oldham assisted the director and writers in making this movie incredibly believable and accurate. During the storm, the camera showed these huge waves that had to be hundreds of yards tall. It also noted that the sky being red at night is a sailor’s delight and a red sky in the morning is a sailor's warning. This gave viewers a bit of foreshadowing into what was going to happen to this couple. After the storm, the characters are fighting to stay alive. They only have peanut butter and any fish they may catch to survive off of. One of the characters is also critically injured. The movie shows the journey Tami has to go through to keep her partner and herself alive. At the end of the movie the couple gets rescued off the coast of Hawaii and it is revealed that Tami was imagining her partner the whole time. He had died in the crash and she was experiencing the side effects of being completely alone and having to survive such a traumatic experience. During her journey, she learned how to sail in such treacherous conditions and that she should be more cautious of what the sky is telling her. It also probably taught her to check radars for any storms she might encounter while sailing such a long distance. This movie was utterly amazing and was so incredibly directed. I never saw that plot twist coming. It was definitely a 10 out of 10. Unless you add a twist that's been used before (and since) which sort of makes the whole thing redundant.
