      Critics Consensus

Adult Life Skills covers familiar territory, but an endearingly quirky story -- and starring turn from Jodie Whittaker -- make this coming-of-age comedy well worth a watch.

Mariah I've probably watched this movie more than 40 times (I lost count after 30 or so). I relate to the character of Anna more than any other character in film or tv. The film is fun, quirky, and heartbreaking. The acting is top notch, the characters are relatable, and Jodie Whittaker absolutely nails it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/20/23 Full Review Shock Therapy R The growing list of wacky characters do not enhance the movie, but rather make it more slapstick. Clint finally lassos the protagonist into caring about something as he is angrier than even her at a fraction of the age. The inconsistencies mount and the story becomes incoherent until we all just want it to end. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/21/22 Full Review Audience Member Amazing performance !!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member an underrated film, everything about it is so amazing. definitely worth the watch. A painful 90 min movie to describe this known fact through an emotionally damaged, lazy hippy who has her fingernails very well paint all the time!! Mar 16, 2020 Full Review Kristy Puchko Pajiba Adult Life Skills is a wobbly but winsome film about pain and the friends who pull us through kicking and screaming. Jan 23, 2019 Full Review Monica Castillo RogerEbert.com Jodie Whittaker's performance humanizes the film's troubled protagonist better than the story. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 18, 2019 Full Review Josh Slater-Williams Vague Visages Jodie Whittaker’s commanding lead turn aside — is the central pleasure of Adult Life Skills: how it sort of sneaks up on you when it comes to the power of its skillfully-performed emotional beats...
