People were forced to leave Earth a millennium ago to establish a new home on Nova Prime. Now, Gen. Cypher Raige (Will Smith) heads Nova Prime's most-prominent family. Cypher's teenage son, Kitai (Jaden Smith), feels enormous pressure to follow in his father's legendary footsteps -- which strains their relationship. I must have strange taste because I found this entertaining, fast-paced, and fun. Jaden isn’t a natural actor but he didn’t lack effort. You could tell he put everything he had into the role. Will’s acting was on the money, as usual. Just a fun and simple SyFY movie.

No surprise in today's day and age, with our modern society pushing more towards "following your heart" and "you are how you feel", that this movie did not do well. It is vastly deep, and resonates with forgotten principles of overcoming flesh and choosing something greater than your feelings and opinions and insecurities- courage, self control, patience, endurance, discipline, etc. I just hope the people that need it get to see it. And also, from a theatrical perspective, the effects are well done and they paid attention to minute details such as accents due to blended cultures in their future environment. Just an all around good movie.
