Audience Member Good screenplay. Fresh and quite mature take on sex, sexuality, human emotions and vulnerability, hidden secrets and insecurities, are all well touched upon through this anthology of stories stuffed into a film. Some stories of couples are stronger than others. For me, the first story and the other gay couple stories really resonated with me. The last story of the film was the weakest, undoubtedly, could have been way better, perhaps with stronger performers. Overall it had some earnest moments, and was a good, easy watch, never trying to be preachy. Hard to get fresh and bold takes like this nowadays. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Strengths: Of the eight couples weï¿ 1/2(TM)re given a look into, three are interesting. The highlight was the couple played by Mila Kunis (Nikki) and Zoe Saldana (Kat). Not only are they the big names in the movie, but their scenes are strong. It explores Kat being a lesbian and coming to terms with how to explain it to her parents. Nikki isnï¿ 1/2(TM)t one, just experimenting in college, but is understanding of it all. Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s a good dynamic. Speaking of talk on sexuality, Noel Fisher (Jay) and Tanc Sade (Freddy) nailed it in another strong scene about exploring Jayï¿ 1/2(TM)s feelings towards men. Timm Sharp (Neil) and James DeBello (Bob) also did well in another story. Due to being a series of shorts, the movie is paced well and is an easy watch. Dave Franco (Sam) is fun in a comedic effort in another story. Weaknesses: None of the other five couples really interested me. There was potential with some talented actors. Emmanuelle Chriqui (Jordy) and Keir Oï¿ 1/2(TM)Donnell (David) were wasted. There was potential for them as exes who keeping hooking up while in new relationships. Instead, they just bicker and come across as unlikable to the point where you wonder why youï¿ 1/2(TM)re watching this. Though I praised Franco for being funny, the situation he was in wasnï¿ 1/2(TM)t. It was clichï¿ 1/2 (C) and the other actors in the scene didnï¿ 1/2(TM)t make me laugh at all. Most of the stories tried too hard to be something unique, but ended up being unoriginal. Overall: In a film where there are eight separate short stories, to be good, it needs to have most of those stories work. Since only two or three do so here, the movie struggles overall. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a good movie to watch Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Only liked 2 of the couples. Thought the rest of the actors were very "B". Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed this movie. It was simple, funny and raw. Each situation felt honest and the characters were excellently portrayed. Sometimes each scenario can feel a bit static, which may bore some viewers, but considering that they are portraying human interaction it seems plausible that there would moments like this. Overall it is a very interesting movie and I would review it as fresh. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Sex is a background to examine intimacy and vulnerability. The complexity of modern day relationships/ sexual interactions is told through eight separate couples. Through dialogue and compromising situations, the film takes us from the beginning of a relationship to the aftermath of one, and examines the stages in between. There´s obvious connections to "Young People Fucking" from the same year, but here we see shorter stories for each couples. There´s humour, drama and emotional tension in a mix and the movie is made with warmth and heart. I reckon my favourites were Christopher & Leslie, Nikki (Mila Kunis) & Kat (Zoe Saldana) and David & Jordi (a stunning Emmanuelle Chriqui). But Mila Kunis & Zoe Saldana are the ones that stands out. Great intensity, erotic vibe and acting in their scene. "After Sex" is not too shabby, even if it won´t make that much of a mark in your movie life.
