Richard Brody The New Yorker The actors deliver their lines with stark and declamatory fervor, and their gestures have a sharp, sculptural stillness that's reminiscent of the grand artifices of classic-Hollywood productions. Fred B Kind of hard to figure this one out more than 25 years after it was made. It's strangely anachronistic, taking place in the 90s, but with sets, dialogues, and even clothes that seem to come from the 50s, 60s, and 70s depending on the scene. I don't know why it's called a romance/comedy. It's a drama. Christie is truly good in it and worth the watch. I think at its heart it's a movie about narcissism. All of the characters suffer from it in differing degrees. The storyline follows the arc of a tragedy, but there is a weird kind of redemption at the end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/02/25 Full Review Dave F This movie is super dated already. The characters are nonsensical. It’s amazing that Julie Christie got nominated for such a bad movie! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/25 Full Review erdene c Thats reminiscent of the grand artifices of classic and Hollywood productions Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/22/24 Full Review Bahad j I really liked the characters and actions of the actors Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/21/24 Full Review Audience Member Didn’t really get a lot out of this one. The actors are a dime a dozen but if only the melodrama was more engaging. 2 hours is pushing it too. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/27/22 Full Review steve d Melodramatic and unpleasant.
