What to Know

Critics Consensus

Aftershock hints at an inventive twist on horror tropes, but ultimately settles for another round of mind-numbing depravity that may alternately bore and revolt all but the most ardent gore enthusiasts.

David Jenkins Little White Lies Very, very ordinary. Rated: 1/5 Aug 15, 2013 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety This Dimension pickup is a hectic, sometimes hilarious guilty pleasure that should delight genre geeks. May 15, 2013 Full Review Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture Was Aftershock just an elaborate ruse by writer-producer-star Eli Roth to justify an extended vacation to Chile? May 13, 2013 Full Review Sean P. Means The Movie Cricket While hospitals send out anodyne statements that "every death is a tragedy" without taking responsibility, these families show in detail the emotional costs of systemic bias. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 30, 2022 Full Review Matt Warren Battleship Pretension In the age of premium TV and limitless web entertainment options, the one thing the movies still have going for them is Spectacle. Aftershock delivers spectacle-of the B-movie extraction, to be sure, but Spectacle nonetheless. Feb 26, 2021 Full Review Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See You have to give them credit for the way it was filmed, and for having the courage to tackle a disaster movie with a tiny budget, which just makes how terrible "Aftershock" is that much more of a disappointment.C- Jul 8, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Diana S Absolutely horrid. Should win an award for being impressively bad. It's like if Bowfinger made an Eli Roth movie. Just absolutely the worst. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/23/24 Full Review Audience Member Feels like it takes forever to get to it but when it finally does... it's a crazy situation portrayed here with gore as the focal point. A lot of subtitles. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Non si capisce bene cosa voglia diventare Aftershock. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A decent disaster flick with gore could be a good idea, unfortunately this one fails pretty miserably. When it ends you end up with the feeling of what’s the point of it really?? Along with the horror of an earthquake is bad enough do we really need to gross it up with rapists etc Selena Gomez also turns up for 10 seconds for some reason???? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/11/19 Full Review Audience Member Bitch killed my beautiful beard man. I'm sueing this company. You see beard man had the greatest beard. He travelled across the land to spread his knowledge of beards while wearing his troll face shirt. He was great. He was majestic. Unparalleled. Yet you killed him off. How? Why? He was the messiah. He was meant to bring peace to this land. How can the mighty God Of Beards spread his knowledge of the beard when you killed him? Killing him is the worst sin you could have committed. His being represents the deep emotional value of the human mind, soul, and body. Beard man was the Ying to the Yang. He represent all that was good and evil in this reality. This is such bullshit! How dare you even think of killing him off? I will fucking sue the shit out of you, you devil worshipers! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This could have been a good movie, but it wasn't. The idea was interesting, a combo disaster and horror film, but it missed the mark in every way. The plot was poorly developed and the characters were very thinly explained. I started it and at first thought it was a satire because the acting was so terrible. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
