Vidit Afwaah: A Dubious Parade of Bias and Disinformation Afwaah" turns out to be a disappointing misfire despite its star-studded cast, anchored by a poorly developed and biased storyline. In its attempt to expose media bias and fake news, it ironically undercuts its own credibility by showcasing a glaring bias towards one particular community, thus becoming the very thing it criticizes. The depiction of one community as the sole victim, while painting the other in broad strokes as corrupt and treacherous, shows an obvious bias and attempts to manipulate the audience's perspective. It's disheartening to see talents like Nawazuddin Siddiqui associated with such a skewed portrayal. This film is a clear example of peaceful community appeasement and sends a message that can only increase division and misunderstanding. It's high time filmmakers stopped peddling such propagandistic narratives and started telling stories that reflect the complex reality of our diverse society. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/14/23 Full Review Manu S Bakwaas movie.. Only based on Agenda.. Now a days Netflix series and movies have based on agenda.. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review Saurav The movie sums up what's wrong with India today, and how political parties exploit gullible ones. Also, highlights how cops are under tight grip of political powers in Indian states and their working conditions. The movie is very well directed and revolves around the key issues plaguing India since a decade. It's an attempt to touch several of issues in a sequence of events that impacts the protagonist. It's a must watch for all, while it could be an eye opener for some, some might just ignore the issues it touches. Netflix should put it out on YouTube so all poor and vulnerable citizens can watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/23 Full Review Golden B I think that we have to accept the reality and truth. If muslims are part of india, then they should accept them as whole world do that. We are all humans and as a human being, Its a bitter truth which shows Indian reality. This movie deserves an Oscar for spreading a peaceful and cool wind in all of us. Thank you Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/08/23 Full Review Omar F Jaw dropping depiction of indian status quo! Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express The characters may have been fictional, but the film is a reminder of the stark reality of the Covid-19 pandemic, when all we could see around us was death and despair. Jan 2, 2024 Full Review Anupama Chopra Film Companion This is Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s second film with Sudhir after Serious Men. In that, he was brilliant as the deliciously duplicitous Ayyan Mani. But here, he has too little to work with. Rahab is more an idea than a human being. May 11, 2023 Full Review Anuj Kumar The Hindu A cautionary tale on how social media is used to peddle false narratives, this Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bhumi Pednekar drama is an important document of the times we live in. Jan 2, 2024 Full Review Archika Khurana The Times of India This film reasonably manages to bring to light the impact of such afwaahs. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 2, 2024 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Afwaah is a flawed political thriller that has enough suspenseful and well-acted moments that outweigh the movie's shortcomings. The movie has pointed observations about how social media can be used as a way to manipulate mainstream news media.
