Michael W This HBO documentary was really good. The entire crew did a fantastic job on telling the story of Gianni Agnelli. The Italian entrepreneur and playboy who saved Italy's economy by running the famous automotive company in Italy, Fiat. He provided what the country needed and gave Italy hope for a better future. He also was a brave man after facing threats from Communist parties that wanted to destroy him, but he stood his ground. If you haven't seen this documentary yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Manny P A very intimate journey into a rather enigmatic individual. The people that he knew as friends is quite staggering. They do say that money can't buy you love, but in this case, it can't buy you happiness. A very sad denouement in his life. The documentary also chronicles, very well, the rise and fall of communism in Italian life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/22 Full Review Audience Member Fascinating story which tells the ups and downs of Gianni Agnelli's life, his importance to Italy and his humanity. A riveting must see movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz ...not enough cars. Bored me to tears. Hard to care about the rich and vain. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review paul d This is a powerful film. Nick Hooker deserves tremendous credit for bringing us a story of substance when the world expected just another superficial treatment of one of the world's most famous playboys and jet-setters. Yes, it is about Gianni Agnelli and yes, it covers all that stuff. But it also is a rich portrait of a family, a company, a country, and several political eras. Using this man to bring all that to life was a brilliant choice. And about the man? Well, the film gives us his full, Shakespearean measure. Amy Glynn Paste Magazine If style and charm are enough to keep you riveted for two hours, you'll love this film; it does what it does very, very well. And I now know a lot about what Gianni Agnelli wore and whom he slept with. Rated: 7.9/10 Dec 21, 2017 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Full of the seductive glamour that Agnelli's admirers would expect, this is a densely structured and thorough documentary which manages to do more than simply repeat what the Italian public already knows.
