Synopsis
Will James was a popular Western writer who transitioned from novels to screenwriting. But James kept a secret: he was not from the American West, or even America. A French Canadian whose real name was Ernest Dufuault, James, as this documentary explores, represents a classic example of the American success story. A dreamer who came to the States wanting to be a cowboy, James found his niche writing about a culture he understood only as an outsider.
