Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald Much of the film's success is down to [Osamah] Sami's winning performance. He's completely charming as a more nerdy version of himself and he gets good comic support. Rated: 4/5 Jun 13, 2018 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald Ali's Wedding neatly strips away the solemnity enveloping that lead balloon of a word "multiculturalism." There's a joyously comic lack of inhibition here and, even better, we're told it's largely a true story. Rated: 4/5 Aug 30, 2017 Full Review Luke Buckmaster Guardian This is a film in which you will hear a letter read aloud, with a voice-over saying the words "you dared to dream", delivered without irony. It is, as they say, what it is. Rated: 2/5 Aug 30, 2017 Full Review Jane Freebury The Canberra Times (Australia) At its heart is a smart, funny performance from co-writer and lead actor Osamah Sami as the dutiful young Muslim struggling with life choices. Aug 18, 2022 Full Review Stephen A. Russell The New Daily (Australia) Boosted by goofy humour, Sami embraces rom-com tropes including a mad dash to the airport, playfully mucking around with Muslim stereotypes in the way only an insider can. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 19, 2020 Full Review Renee Schonfeld Common Sense Media Engaging Australian romcom has some language. Rated: 4/5 Jun 27, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Did not expect it to be a subtle & witty movie. Glued on to the couch for its authentic and relatable storytelling. Enjoyed it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The plot was endearing but the cheap humor and character development were severely lacking. Worth playing as background noise if you're looking for a decent romantic comedy but absolutely not worth watching with your full attention. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Such a pleasant change to see a film about Muslims which is not entirely negative. A wonderful portray of Muslim life in Australia, with love, joy, family, cynicism, disappointment and unconditional love. I cannot recommend this film highly enough. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I totally related to this movie. Awesome! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was brilliant! It's so interesting. funny, and tender hearted. I will recommend it to all of my friends. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrible movie. I normally am too lazy to write reviews but I had to this time; because most of them are praising the movie and that is extremely misleading. The movie expects us to sympathize with the a$$hole protagonist, who is incredibly incompetent, starts with a ridiculous mistake, who gets chances to correct himself, but keeps on making horrible decisions while practically ruining lives of absolutely everybody around him. He probably has least number of balls ever recorded on any human being. He repeatedly cheats, lies, manipulates, his way through the entire movie and then finally 'gets the girl' in the end anyway. Sorry but, bull$hit. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
