Insomniac X Freaky, sexually charged giallo will appeal to genre diehards and stans of Edwige Fenech, but may inspire shrugs from casual horror viewers. While memorable for its occult scenes and unhinged arthouse dream sequences, the film's plot is convoluted even by giallo standards, and repetitive enough to become tedious. A premise I've seen time and time again. Girl starts to think she's becoming crazy, or is she? Gotta have a cult in there too. Although this is my first giallo that plays w this kind of premise, I can't say I was truly impressed. A great giallo nonetheless, although don't take it from me as I've only seen a handful of giallos and no expert on what qualifies a "good" giallo. But not just a straightforward Giallo, this one has a lot of psychological horror at play and pretty strong pre slasher notes.
