Peter Travers ABC News Oscar time is ideal for catching up with Edward Berger’s ferocious anti-war epic about young German soldiers dying in WW1 trenches. The German-language film boasts a wow nine nominations, including Best Picture, and tragically its message never gets old. Mar 10, 2023 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald This new adaptation of a classic book about young German soldiers in the First World War does everything well, except keep faith with Erich Maria Remarque’s novel. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 10, 2023 Full Review Namrata Joshi The New Indian Express Berger’s film is a powerful plea for pacifism that comes riding on a trenchant critique of the inhumanity of statecraft. One in which the enemy is not necessarily out there across the border but within. Mar 9, 2023 Full Review William Stottor The Indiependent All Quiet on the Western Front depicts the horrors of World War I in a visually impressive way but is let down by a flimsy screenplay, one which struggles to add depth to the characters. Rated: 3/5 Sep 3, 2024 Full Review Prabhjot Bains Tilt Magazine All Quiet on The Western Front is a powerful and poignant treatise on the hopelessness of war that unearths newfound splendor in the ravaged battlefields of France. Nov 2, 2023 Full Review Shawn Edwards Fox 4 Kansas City All Quiet On The Western Front does not deliver anything new but is extremely well-produced and told. Realism is its best attribute but the production is stunningly haunting. You'll feel like you're actually in the middle of battle. Rated: 5/5 Oct 27, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Kembell The best film of this year. Simply extraordinary! Unmissable! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/23 Full Review Hunter This is a film that should be seen on a theater screen rather than a TV streaming. Both image and sound benefit from the theater experience. I have long considered Lewis Milestone's 1930 Academy Award winning version to be an enduring film classic that captures the horror and stupidity of war like few films ever have. The German version is in that same league and is worthy of being Oscar nominated. As I experienced this film I couldn't help but think of the people of Ukraine and of the living hell that they are being put through due an inhumane Russian sicko who leads his country into a corse of darkness. While I miss the poetic ending of the 1930 version when Lew Ayres dies as he reaches out to touch a butterfly near-by this German version stands on its own as a powerful example of the folly war brought on by greedy leaders willing to scarify millions of human lives to satisfy their quest for power! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/23 Full Review rocktrim not my genre, so did not appeal to me. felt like just another war movie with too much violence, irony, and trauma. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/11/23 Full Review Stephanie An unbelievably intense, visually stunning, impactful movie. The musical score is off the charts. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/11/23 Full Review Raymond M I enjoyed the movie as it did not hold back anything with regards to the tragedy of war. I also believed that the characters were authentic, not over the top with unnecessary acting and/or dialog. In my opinion, it is the closest depiction of WW1 trench warfare as anything ever made. This film will win Oscars, and deservedly so. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/23 Full Review JP This devastatingly effective adaptation of Remarque's 1928 novel presents the novel's themes with equal eloquence and power. The nine Oscar nominations are well-deserved. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
