Audience Member Would have a higher rating if the ending wasn't such a disappointment. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review william s Plays like an old ABC movie of the week.Light coming of age story that just ends when it was getting average, Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member They put the functional is dysfunctional. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Not the best. Not the worst. Somewhat realistic (albeit inside) look at teenage boys and what they're capable of if left unchecked and to their own devices. The direction was competent and didn't pull any punches. The ending was hard enough because it left you wanting, but that's the ":wonder years" for you. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member ★★★ (out of four) Based on the book of the same name by Max Doty, this disturbing take on adolescent angst doesn't really add anything knew to the genre, but it does manage to create characters that are real and the pain they go through is devestatingly uncomfortable. In a small rural California town, Ted (Lorenzo James Henrie) looks up to his older brother, nicknamed Truck (Alex Frost)and his wild friends. They reluctantly let him hang out with them. Finally they allow him to participate in a game they have created. They guy who can sleep with the most freshman girls wins. The plot sounds a little like a big Hollywood teen comedy, but this is anything but that. It a film with serious consequences for the kids involved and the pain that spreads around the group is handled fervently.
