John McCarten The New Yorker Along Came Jones includes enough of the uproar that Hollywood has always associated with sleepy Western towns to keep the customers reasonably diverted. StephenPaul C The greatest 1.5 hours ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Martin B Loretta young is radiant, it's impossible to takes your eyes off her. There is literally only one person that could play Jones effectively and that's Gary Cooper. Just a fun movie wondering how Jones will muddle through the mess he doesn't seem to mind being in. William Demarest playing his one character actor part to perfection and critical to the plot. Poor Dan Duryea. Cast as the bad guy, sleazy guy literally all the time and he did it well for sure. I don't know how you can not like that movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review steve d Cooper makes it fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review ashley h Along Came Jones is an amazing film. It is about good-natured saddle tramp traveling with his sidekick who are mistaken for a ruthless outlaw. Gary Cooper and Loretta Young give excellent performances. The screenplay is good but a little slow in places. Stuart Heisler did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the romance. Along Came Jones is a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Poor Melody Jones, a simple soul, a good cowboy who has never really developed skill with firearms, gets himself mistaken for notorious western badman Monty Jarrad. Same general build, same initials and both are known to hang around with a cantankerous old timer. A recipe for trouble?... A sly satire of the very genre in which it resides--Gary Cooper, William Demarest, Dan Duryea & Loretta Young join forces in this Entertaining Western Farce... Saddle Bums on the run!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Frances H Your typical cute old Gary Cooper type western, with a young Loretta Young at her most beautiful and William Demarest as the crusty old wisecracking side kick.
