J. R. Jones Chicago Reader The soulful young actress Magaly Solier manages to carry this dull, obvious Spanish drama. Jan 26, 2012 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Simply on the story level, "Amador" could have been a better film. Rated: 2/4 Jan 26, 2012 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies If you can wade through the intentional deliberate pacing and forgive a couple of obvious plot holes, there is a lot to like with “Amador”. Rated: 3/5 Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Vladan Petkovic Cineuropa Sometimes genuinely touching, insightful and with a neat little twist. Aug 11, 2020 Full Review Daniel Green CineVue Amador tackles its subject matter with honourable intent, yet the film lacks the flair and melodrama of more recent Spanish social commentaries, such as Alejandro González Iñárritu's superior Biutiful. Rated: 3/5 May 30, 2019 Full Review Hannah Brown Jerusalem Post While on paper this may not sound like a movie you would enjoy, it is almost inexplicably entertaining while you are watching it. Audience Member Decently filmed. However Magaly Solier is either an intelligent person poorly trying to play dumbo, or a dumbo trying to play dumbo. Rest of movie is fairly pedestrian and not engaging. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliantly written and beautifully put together, with central themes (puzzle pieces, the ocean) weaving in and out of the narrative. Understated and funny, while addressing important ethical issues in a graceful and accomplished way. Highly recommended! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Spanish film. I didn't find it mind blowing or anything but it's worth a look if you enjoy spanish films. Nice cinematography and decent acting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review laurent b Une perle d'humanità (C), et d'humour, portà (C)e magistralement par Magaly Soller. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member great movie and what a surprising ending Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm almost shocked this movie is on the Flixster database. God knows how many movies I've searched lately and didn't find them. Flixster generally seems to be in a state of abandonment and that's rather frustrating for all of us who have been around for quite some time. In any case. I digress. This was a sweet, simple movie about human nature. It went on for too long for me, since it could have said everything it did in much less time, but it was otherwise very beautiful. Indie, European, cheap movie. Sorta the best kind really. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
