Moving ending won't satisfy all viewers, but shows admirable devotion to the film's notion that "Sometimes the poorest of men are the richest." Go to Full Review

There is nothing obvious about the story, which moves carefully and unpredictably, taking us through the streets of Delhi with a view from the back of a rickshaw. Go to Full Review

A hypnotic mix of old home footage, archival pulls and shadowy portraiture, Amal fixes its gaze on an arresting protagonist whose complex transformation alternates between foreground and background for her country's volatile surroundings. Go to Full Review

denise r Mar 4 This movie is a classic fable that transends all cultures and eras. It is what is now being called "HopePunk" in that it has a radical happy ending, not limited to the usual cause and effect of life, or the messure of of a persons worth in dollars, but in the choice to always value honestly and integrity. I loved the scene when the old man sings. So moving. See more dave s 01/27/2022 Granted, the movie totters erratically between saccharine-sweet sentiment and oppressive melodrama, but Amal has a strange allure and undeniable likeability to it. When an auto-rickshaw driver provides a ride for a disheveled millionaire in search of goodness on the streets of New Delhi, a chain of unfortunate events are triggered when the rickshaw driver is named in the man's will as the sole recipient of his inheritance at the time of his death. It's easy to criticize the film for its manipulative tendencies and the unlikely details of the story, but it has much to say about what ultimately makes us wealthy in life and the perils of greed. See more 07/29/2020 Watched it on amazon prime and this movie makes no sense. No Indian billionaire or millionaire will ever leave his wealth to a rickshawala instead of his own kids. This movie is not worth watching as the Plot and characters are not plausible. Why would a lawyer not make a copy of the will? And, give it to the rickshawala to read it instead of reading it to him? It does not deserve the four star rating. Don't waste your time See more @datha 04/11/2020 Can't believe i wasted my time for movie made for rich audience. See more 01/12/2018 This great film will be best appreciated putting aside Hollywood expectations - it is more like a Shakespeare play.
