American Honey offers a refreshingly unconventional take on the coming-of-age drama whose narrative risks add up to a rewarding experience even if they don't all pay off.

Madison F I love, love, love this film. This film is absolutely Andrea Arnold at its finest, even though I absolutely love Fish Tank, as well. American Honey is one of the most beautiful, intense slice of life films I've ever seen. An absolute dreamy movie. However for the average viewer who doesn't like slice of life films, it might not be for you. The slice of life film is encapsulating something much deeper than plot - it is absolutely capturing the emotional essence of the American Dream on the fringes of society and wow, it did that on every level. Beautiful film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Alec B The film remains compelling even when it's narrative seems to be spinning it's wheels. For something that could easily have been insufferable that's quite an achievement. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/14/23 Full Review Lewis R Would be a better movie if they edited out the hour and a half of it which is comprised purely of incoherently repetitive and out-of-focus shots of random scenery. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review Ed N Good, but not great. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/08/23 Full Review Colin S Shia is the only redeeming factor of the film. A shotty plot, No real climax, no real anything. I was so angry when the credits came because there were no answers and still no real plot established. I think if they converted it into a series, it would be a lot better. However I think they pushed a series into a movie and failed... miserably Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/23 Full Review David F Amazing film about growing up on the fringes of late-teen society in America. Having been one of these young weirdos, I found the characters to be extraordinarily well-crafted. The acting was inspiring, especially for such young people, and the direction felt as natural as it gets. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jess Kibler Bitch Media A completely gorgeous and remarkable film... American Honey manages to depict the desperation of being a poor young person in a forgotten corner of America without condescending to or worshipping its destitute characters. Feb 11, 2021 Full Review Karen Han CutPrintFilm American Honey is undeniably gorgeous. It's drenched in color; it drips with it like, yes, honey. In the center of it all is Sasha Lane as Star, just as bright (if not brighter), and impossible not to watch. Rated: 9/10 Dec 8, 2017 Full Review Adam Nayman Cinema Scope It's the strategic vaporousness of the entire enterprise-its canny refusal to be "about" anything except an immersion its own roiling, over-conscientiously detailed millennial milieu-that rankles. Sep 28, 2017 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Arnold's elegiac and naked picture functions as a road adventure born of Dickens and Kerouac. Rated: 4/4 Apr 5, 2022 Full Review Jason Adams My New Plaid Pants It's all the fixins. Pistol-whipped to perfection. My teeth positively ache for another helping of American Honey; I wanna eat until I pass right out. Rated: A Jul 2, 2021 Full Review Michael J. Casey Michael J. Cinema Arnold's acumen with the subversiveness that lurks just beneath the surface is playfully reserved, bubbling up only when absolutely necessary.
