Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Sean D Nostalgic from childhood, I think this movie is well-cast, funny, and heart Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Brian U "American Pie Presents: Band Camp," directed by Steve Rash, is a spin-off from the popular "American Pie" series. The plot revolves around Matt Stifler, the younger brother of Steve Stifler, who is sent to band camp as punishment for his pranks. The overarching plot includes Elyse’s ambition to get into Robards Conservatory and Matt’s antics recording videos of naked band campers. Minor plot lines include various romantic entanglements, Matt’s journey towards maturity, and a rivalry with another school. While these storylines are simplistic, they are mostly concluded by the end, offering some narrative satisfaction. The characters are a mixed bag. Matt Stifler, played by Tad Hilgenbrink, lacks the charisma of his older brother Steve but manages to provide some silly entertainment. Elyse, portrayed by Arielle Kebbel, is a likable character striving to break out of her shell. Most other campers are average in interest, with Eugene Levy reprising his role as Jim’s dad, adding a touch of nostalgia. The acting is limited, with few opportunities for the cast to showcase their skills. Arielle Kebbel shines in her role, and there are a few visually appealing cast members. Beyond Eugene Levy, the cast consists of relatively unknown actors. Dialogue in "Band Camp" is primarily childish humor, with many jokes falling flat. The pacing is adequate, moving the story along without dragging. Production values are low, and the theme is a simple message about seeing people for who they are, typical of high school comedies. Emotionally, the film manages to build some investment in Elyse’s plight and provides minor joy in cheering for the underdogs. However, it lacks depth and lasting impact. Rewatchability is moderate; it’s a film you might revisit occasionally but isn’t particularly compelling. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review Red T I thought it was perfectly ok the whole way through pretty much. nothing more nothing less. The main problem is Matt comes of for 90% of the runtime as a jerk and never charming similar to RDJ in Iron Man 2. The rest of the cast is just ok really with one dimensional characters and Elyse being just ok. Their really wasn't that much chemistry between them again mainly because Matt is a jerk. The editing and pacing were ok even though in the middle it feels like stuff just happens at Band Camp rather than a story is being told around Band Camp. The jokes are gross out humor that falls flat and none if is very clever but I never found any of it to be really bad just flat and forgettable. The music is also forgettable. The cinematography is just ok with forgettable locations, some dumb joke scenes, and basic camera work. That pretty much sums it up, it's just unremarkable. As a spin off its ok enough. If your a fan of the series than check it out but don't expect anything remarkable. Otherwise you can pass on this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Going down hill. The original holds up but the sequels do not Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/12/22 Full Review Andre G I thought this would be dumb compared to the original. It's not as good still but really funny.
