Honeyboy W This is, without a doubt, one of the funniest films I have ever had the privilege of watching and reviewing. Indeed, I've seen it four times and always catch something new in this tale (which is presented as a serious film striving to convey profound meaning) which is typical of movies of its time--yet stands out above the rest simply because it is so wonderfully awful. This is a film that you watch with friends on a Saturday night. The acting, the plot, the hilarious use of speeches and allegory--it simply MUST be experienced to believe. Highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/15/22 Full Review Audience Member Saw this movie with my friend josh. it was going ok until josh decided to go to israel dressed as a hippie yelling about gal gadot Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Mike is a Vietnam vet who ends up in Israel after wandering around the world for a while. He meets an actress and after they sleep together, he expresses his wish to find an isolated place where he can live with only like-minded people and not get hassled by the man. They meet another hippie couple and the four of them buy a lamb (???), and travel to a desolate island where they can live together in peace. The next morning, they find that the lamb, their boat and all their supplies have vanished. They try to swim to the mainland but sharks (???) prevent ... so instead they all beat each other to death. Oh yeah, gangster mimes also menace Mike. This is a terrible film. It's an unholy mix of slow, ponderous inaction and symbolism go damn blatant it's insulting. There's a lot of nudity, but even that ends up being super unpleasant. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review delysid d An American Hippie in Israel is a pretty dumb old movie about naïve hippies who get themselves stranded on a desert island without food or water and end up just beating the crap out of each other. I love the retro look of the film and the unique story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/23/17 Full Review Audience Member It's a half star (outta five) movie, actually, but amusing to watch for about 45 minutes or whenever that infinitely repeating folk song starts to gnaw at your sanity. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie! Reeks of the 70s with those cliché hippie one liners that make you smile. The weirdness of this movie attracts you and offers a different taste of what you are used to seeing. A definite must watch. Also the soundtrack in this movie is BEAUTIFUL and is what really draws you in. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
