Audience Member Legendary comedy troupe Monty Python's debut theatrical release essentially is an anthology film comprising tens of recreated sketches originally from the first two seasons of their TV show, "Monty Python's Flying Circus", plus a few exclusive transitions (animated or not). A lot of the sketches are among their best, although some weaker material is also present. In any case, the group's hilarious, anarchic, out-there originality and Terry Gilliam's brilliant animation are properly showcased. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review dave s Culling skits from their television show and re-filming them for a theatrical release, Monty Python's And Now For Something Completely Different is a compilation worth checking out for the uninitiated as well as for fans of the Flying Circus. It's a bit of a mixed bag as many of the skits have aged nicely and still pack a comedic punch (The Dead Parrot, The Dirty Fork, etc…), while others are probably not worthy of making the compilation (Pearl Harbor, Seduced Milkman, etc…) and tend to drag things down. In addition, the animation feels excessive at times and, other than providing a transition break between segments, doesn't really serve much of a purpose. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review jon c Something completely different indeed Monty Python presents another spoof in his long line of successful British humor This movie is more of a collection of 40 skits from the Flying Circus program John Cleese hosts and narrates as well as stars in many of them Without a studio audience from before a few of them are alternate or deleted segments from broadcast television Watching them here in all their glory showcases Monty Python's brand of comedy The animations are still there too with more adult emphasis on violence and sex Not all the skits work 100% but you can tell how dedicated these comic geniuses are to this material with Terry Gilliam still having his input Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Evan M Perhaps the best distillation of Monty Python. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Don't you think this has become rather silly? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Wendy Ide Times (UK) Anarchic in structure and content, this is perhaps the feature film that is truest to the Python spirit. Dec 27, 2023 Full Review Derek Malcolm Guardian [And Now for Something Completely Different] includes some of the best items... without quite convincing that what was marvellous in weekly half-hour doses stands up as ninety minutes of cinema. Mar 20, 2020 Full Review Margaret Hinxman Daily Telegraph (UK) Not so much a film, more a long giggle: some gags sag, bat not too many. Mar 20, 2020 Full Review Steve Warren The Barb (Atlanta) A collection of the best bits from the TV series redone for the big screen. May 9, 2023 Full Review Dilys Powell Sunday Times (UK) There are a reasonable number of sharply inventive sketches. Mar 20, 2020 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Essential viewing for fans of Monty Python and British comedy, this film consists of some wonderful sketches, even though Terry Gilliam doesn't appear in them.
