Audience Member BBC re-accounts the life of Anne Frank as she is stuffed away in an attic with her father, mother, sister, a town dentist, and another family consisting of a man, his wife, their son, and cat. This was rather an emotional and disturbing movie to say the least. Yet, extremely enjoyable and insightful. There's nothing like the words of a 13- year old girl to humble you and remind you of all the simple freedoms in life that we forget is at our finger tips. It's hard to do a review in terms of the plot - everyone knows the plot. Less it's a question of did this film capture the true emotion behind the individuals that were the true people affected by this event. And that is, yes. Coming away from this movie I could not help but feel sorrow for the hopes and dreams of so many individuals, especially Anne Frank, a 13, 14 year old girl by the time they were discovered in the attic with so much will to live having it stripped away from her and the other's. It wasn't only a matter of facing loss and death, it was facing restriction, when simply enjoying a blast of sunlight or the warmth of its ray on your body was faced with the consequence of death. Amazing, five stars, and as of now the 1999 film of BBC is the best Anne Frank movie I've seen portrayed. The fact that this movie was so under advertised and it does not even have a good rightful place here on Flixster (lack of poster and one review other than me) is actually pretty sad, it's under rated, and unsung. Check it out! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
