Adrian A this was the best movie i've ever watched. nobody understands this movie the way i do. one cannot simply comprehend the complexities of the plot and the true metaphors behind the horrific imagery that is portrayed in this starring debut. natasha lyonne commits to a stunning performance. i have been completely changed by this watch and i will never recover from what i have seen. thank you to the creator of this life-changing film, you were forever be appreciated for your contribution to filmmaking. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Hugo S A woman (a partygoer and drug addict) deals with an alien invasion taking place right inside her body. An abnormal pregnancy she clearly didn't wish for. "Antibirth" takes the viewer on a psychedelic trip as the main character goes through a metamorphosis triggered by her bizarre pregnancy. Trippy and surreal! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/29/23 Full Review Frisby 2 Spoilers ahead, but nothing actually happens until the last 15 freaking minutes of the movie, and no, the payoff for that wait time isn't worth sitting through. Oh, and the WORST part of it is that it's damn boring. There's lots of things one can overlook in a horror film (which this hardly even qualifies as), but for me the most cardinal sin to commit is making it boring and a drag for everyone watching. By the time things get "interesting" or at the very least finally decide to give you SOME sort of explanation as to whats going on, it's both too late and would've been better off not even being brought up at all. While I don't always agree or even care to question critic scores, I honestly have to wonder WHY this got such a high score from them? Decent performances can't save what's pretty much a horrible film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Psychedelic and different! Natasha Lyonne and Chloë Sevigny are fantastic (and I love the editing), so I can see the appeal overall! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member 30 mins into the movie turned it off was going nowhere Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/21 Full Review phil b Indulgent & dull hipster Horror assaults the audience with the gravest offense...it bores us to death. Alexandra Heller-Nicholas The Blue Lenses A film that ends even more absurdly than it begins, it is through its very chaos that Antibirth speaks to the frenzied desperation of being placed in a position well beyond your control and having no option but to endure the consequences. Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Julia Cooper Globe and Mail Lovers of horror will likely be into this fertile homage and will appreciate Perez's new takes on horror's tried-and-true tropes and plot twists. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 2, 2016 Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle It's a scrappy debut with a standout performance from Lyonne, who manages to be sympathetic even while she drinks her way into further circles of hell, and a terrific return to form for Meg Tilly as well. Rated: 3/5 Oct 27, 2016 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts This is probably one of the most slow-moving horror movies I've ever seen especially a mystery horror. Rated: 4/10 Apr 29, 2021 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed Antibirth takes the WTF factor and turns it up to eleven while boasting good performances, gross effects, and a crazy and appropriate look.
