william k Highly entertaining heist thriller is both suspenseful and full of dry humour; Jean Gabin is, as always, a joy to watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It could have been a dream come true: Jean Gabin has just gotten out of jail, he's old and wants one last score to set him up in retirement (in Australia). He recruits young Alain Delon to help him rob a casino on the French Riviera. Alas, in the hands of director Henri Verneuil, the result is plodding, too self-satisfied, and wasteful of its stars. The swinging music tries to add zip but it is an uphill battle. I'd say with 30 minutes shaved off, just little cuts out of scenes that run too long (or contain boring and unnecessary exposition) this could have been much better, although not reaching the heights of Touchez Pas Au Grisbi (the quintessential aging Gabin flick) or Le Samourai (Delon's best gangster turn). Still, it looks pretty good in widescreen and you can't knock the set up. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member The entire heist sequence lasts 26 and half minutes, and has very little dialogue. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Pourquoi braquer une banque a 11 alors qu'on peut le faire a 3? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Heist Movie par Excellence Jean Gabin and Alain Delon are one of the coolest Gangster Duo's in Film History the Cinematography, the Soundtrack, the Story everything is perfect in this Movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Dans une situation tendue, quand tu parles avec un calibre en pogne, personne ne bronche... y'a des statistiques la d'ssus...
