L B Oct 29 I am not sure what some of these other reviewers were expecting. Please understand this film in context: this is an asylum film and it will show. The science is ... relevant only in the story universe. If you have a background in science or medicine I'm implore you not to get frustrated,just run along with the logic. As far as I see it, this film has some key strengths and weaknesses. Strengths: at key moments, the actors deliver incredibly convincing emotional tension. Xanders line after realizing the earth is likely ending where he thanks his team and reveals his plan is to go home to his wife to spend their last moments together was incredibly raw. Ramiro's physicality and screaming pain while receiving stitches from the husband of a horse vet felt incredibly real, as his did his portrayal of a gran mal shortly afterwards ---my son is epileptic. Tania's pained facial expression when she forces shut the mortuary cooler to save her fiance knowing she won't survive it was raw. Camera work. The cinematographer knows what they are doing here. They do close ups at key moments, scale back for dramatic effect, etc. No complaints on camera work on my end. Weaknesses: the writing tops the list here. Why was Oscar excluded from the family hug after all the trials and tribulations he suffered with Jill to make it to Ecuador? Why was Mike so elated in ecuador when his fiancee had literally just sacrificed her life for him just a few hours prior? How did they make it to Ecuador at all? Jill and Oscar were on foot with 14 hours to go after losing the truck on the ocean and Mike and Sara started their journey in the United States so leaving out that key piece felt lazy. The cgi, clothing, and other complaints about the general stagecraft the other reviews note exist but would be wholesale forgiven if the writing were stronger That said, I watched it all the way through, several times actually, and I do think it's a decent film. Once I have seen the Movie I can give you my review on what I thought of it. Going by the Trailer it looks pretty good I don't know why there's only 6% of the audience who liked the Movie.
