Time Out The traditional ingredients of homely moralising, sentimentality and raucous slapstick are used sparingly, the dialogue is fairly bright, some visual gags are neatly executed. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Richard Eder New York Times Walt Disney started by making movies in which animated drawings played the parts of people or animals who stood for people. Later he turned to making movies in which people or animals play the parts of animated drawings. Dale R While searching for other movies on this list, the thumbnail for this movie came up often on Disney+. So I had already seen that Don Knotts and Tim Conway were starring in this movie and I was looking forward to it just because of that. It didn’t disappoint. One scene involving fire had me laughing out loud for quite awhile. Bill Bixby and Susan Clark play the leads and their eventual love story worked well for me. My biggest complaint about this era of Disney movies are the children characters, they are in the movie to be cute and that is it. This movie is no different as Stacy Manning plays a little girl with her two bigger brothers. She is supposed to be the cute one, but she does it so well, presumably without even trying, that she is beyond cute and is absolutely adorable! The theme song to the movie, “The Apple Dumpling Gang”, is also really enjoyable and catchy. I’d say this movie is a must watch.
