Alain E @AlainE 4d This is a great film with a nihilistic point of view. Life makes absolutely no sense. We view the action from four different perspectives, going back and forth in time. A little like "Run, Lola, run", but with more characters and unchanged events. If you want a traditional narrative with the persons gaining some ground, look elsewhere. The most tragic person is the old man, a mean old bastard who verbally abuses the young pregnant supermarket clerk, who then later offers him a ride in her car only for him to eventually kill her boyfriend and father of her unborn child. Even earlier we had witnessed the store security stopping the old man in what initially appeared to be abuse of power. Then, it is revealed that he did try to steal a Rubinstein CD with a Mozart concert! Despite his appreciation of classical music, he is a violent lonely person who stuffs surgical cotton in his underwear, as we also learn. Excellent acting and cinematography. On Tubi. See more don s 10/28/2014 This French drama seems to be pointless. Not only does it not have a point, it has no point from 4 different perspectives: a girl who thinks she is pregnant, her mother, her loser boyfriend, and an old man who lives across the street. Some may call this art. I call it tedium. Adele Haenel is pleasing to the eye. bumping it up half a notch. See more 10/10/2012 it's only downfall is possibly being a bit too personal here. The film could have worked as a hour long piece, and what is here is a brilliant charcter study, but it does drag quite a bit and will leave most viewers bored unless you are really into the art house type films. Also, do yourself a favor and don't look too close at the Spoiler heavy poster here.
