Audience Member I'm not entirely sure what to think of it. It's a very different take on the greek mythology and a lot of the gods, titans, demigods, appear. The story is different enough that I question why they just didn't use other names than the greek gods and make it unrelated. The seeming incest in various couples was a bit disconcerting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member the movie isn't bad. but it isn't that good either. yasuhiko clearly doesn't know much on Greek mythology. and I disagree much of yasuhiko's adaptation on it. surely changes has to be made when it comes to making a film. like books, legends, mythologies etc. you know the drill. and we, the audience, who so much happen to adore these stories, which is typically in the form of books would hands down be disappointed in them. but it doesn't apply to every case though. this film was quite a disappointment for me. because it felt as if the director had the wrong idea of how Greek mythology is. and Greek mythology so happens to be my favourite. but I still gave this film a 3-star rating because the plot was nicely paced and the film didn't bore me at all. just that I didn't liked the way yasuhiko-san portrayed the Greek deities at all. but he did portrayed them in terms of appearance well. you guys could give a film a go. but just to let you know this film should be rated PG13 because it does have quite a number of explicit parts so yeahhhhhhhh. You guys could watch it here on YouTube in its original Japanese audio with English subtitles by fans "Arion - 1986 Movie - Subtitled". Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the heavy hitters of the mid-80s giant studio animes, Arion is supremely, bafflingly, shockingly silly, in a way totally distinct to its time and place. Ain't been this befuddled by an anime since I watched Do You Remember Love? The silliest era of anime also produced some of the true greats, though, like The Wings of Honneamise, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Grave of the Fireflies, and Night on the Galactic Railroad. Watch one of those instead Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Why isn't this over here in America?! This is one of the best anime films to come out of the 80s and I had to find out late in the game! I love this anime with a passion for loads of reasons. The animation is fantastic, the characters--each representing a Greek good--are by far the best cast I've ever seen, the music is sublime, and the story itself is something that even the game "God of War" can't touch. All I can say is this: if you ever find this movie--with English subtitles!--hurry up and buy it while you can; and also, to all you anime distributing companies who are reading this, bring this over here to the states! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member really nice it was made the same year with my birth year Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Love greek mythology and so loved this anime. Yes, loosely based on the myth but very well done by Japanese Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and NOT Mamoru Hamatsu. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
