The wacky art style and strange characters make it appear as if it's going for a sort of surrealism akin to SpongeBob or Adventure Time, but its approach to storytelling is more formulaic, Disney-esque and undercooked.

Arlo the Alligator Boy is a beautiful masterpiece that could be enjoyed by the entire family!! Amazing animation, great character designs, a creative script, and an absolute fire soundtrack!! One of the very few movies on Netflix that is absolutely PERFECT!! The sequel series was great too, since it gave us such a great ending! I love this movie, and I think it would be perfect for family movie night!!!!

Before diving into "Arlo: The Alligator Boy", I anticipated another piece of children's media where the plot and lessons being told would overly cater and pander to the current mindscape of the popular consciousness. Rest assured, those suspicions were laid to rest. "Arlo..." arrives with enough whimsy, emotion, and catchy songs that help make it a memorable and charming musical for all ages to dig into.
