Anton Bitel Little White Lies The devil is in the details of a deftly ambiguous screenplay (by Carret and Mike Hostench) that carefully withholds as much as it reveals. Mar 28, 2016 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times If the twisty finale underwhelms, Mr. Carret's enigmatic style and textured images offer their own doomy rewards. Sep 25, 2014 Full Review Rob Staeger Village Voice Is it possible to be decidedly unsubtle and also maddeningly opaque? Marc Carret's exorcism film Asmodexia threads that infuriating needle. Sep 23, 2014 Full Review Matt Donato We Got This Covered Asmodexia isn't exactly a biblical epic, but a rejuvenating finish brings meaning to a movie that otherwise would seem minimalistic and generic - finding a savior in the nick of time. Diana S Not a great movie, a fair amount of cheese, but I did like the twist even if I saw it coming a little bit. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/24 Full Review Audience Member The ending of this movie made my blood boil in anger and now I am left in dissatisfaction. My stomach is left with frustrated butterflies, and now I have to clear my mind with a nice hard lemonade. I was always annoyed by the protagonists, and the ending just, it just made everything even more terrible. They tried to make a twist, but usually, twists should blow the audience away with the unexpectedness. This twist and the sequence in which the twist was revealed only put more and more blocks on my block-tower of anger. I was so annoyed by this movie that I made an entirely new account on Rotten Tomatoes just to vent my anger. Sure the tiny details that foreshadowed some things gave a tiny bit of validation, but the end! Smh, I'm done, I'm drinking the hard lemonade and I feel a bit more calmed down, but I will never get the last hour and a half of my life back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Under funded and overly complicated this rather obvious and obverse take on the exorcists theme offers little in the way of art and less in the way of entertainment. Somewhere in the running time there might be a story but it would seem the director and the cast are still trying to figure it out. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Under funded and overly complex this obverse and rather obvious take on the exorcist theme fails pretty much on every level. It certainly isn't art and it certainly isn't entertaining. Somewhere in there, there is a story but even the director seems as confused as everybody as to what it is. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I can look past bad acting if it has a decent story. which this sort of had. I was constantly reminded by a ton of the other exorcism movies and that just makes it seem it had nothing original to it. about 3/4 of the way through there was piano music that sounded exactly like The Exorcist. another movie worth skipping. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Mildly interesting exorcism horror.....the movie is visually appealing and there are several spooky and abandoned location sets in which action takes place....I liked also post-apocalyptic finale but still the plot of "Asmodexia" is quite confusing and complex,so be prepared....
