Audience Member As an autistic person myself, I was thrilled to watch a documentary that's not about being autistic, but still getting some important messages out there through tiny pieces of information and by fearlessly showing struggles that seem incomprehensible to a neurotypical person. We can be creative, smart, funny, interesting people and that deserves screentime for sure. There's not enough content like this focusing on adulthood for people on the spectrum. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I feel like my heads being fucked with. I felt like the whole thing could have been a completely ironic sketch by some god level writers but I think its real. Still can barely tell if im right or wrong Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member A sweet and likeable documentary about a foursome of ambitious young men and their adventures/hardships of performing their comedy skit shows.
The film serves as an inspirational piece for all, not just those who happen to have aspergers syndrome. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member After seeing Paddleton, I was interested in other films by Alexandre Lehmann, and I found this film. This is a documentary about four young men – Noah, Ethan, New Michael, and Jack – who are all on the autism spectrum, had formed their own comedy troupe, and were preparing to perform their last show. While I would have liked to have had more background on each of them in terms of their growing up years, I was inspired by these four men who set out to do what they loved doing – comedy. It was also great to hear these guys talk about themselves, what life is like for them, their idiosyncrasies, and what they find funny as well as their love of sharing their humor with others. We also get to hear the perspective of some of their parents as well. This gets a big thumbs up from me! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely real, fresh & honest! Loved it so much! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing film, and that's coming from a girl who is the ultimate documentary nerd. Raw and heartfelt. In love! Nov 17, 2016 Full Review Ken Jaworowski New York Times "Asperger's Are Us" rarely stretches to be funny or poignant or touching, and that makes this documentary all the more of each. Nov 10, 2016 Full Review Craig D. Lindsey Village Voice You'll appreciate these dudes for making the effort to literally break out of their comfort zones in order to change people's views on autism.
