Audience Member Uncontestably a Christmas classic, 'Asterix and Cleopatra' is one of those movies that you grow up watching and that you hold very fond memories of. Incredibly funny and quotable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Charming and certainly funny, this film delights it's audience with bouncy entertainment Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A huge improvement over the last movie. Asterix and Cleopatra isn't void of flaws: voice acting that doesn't match the designs in the English dub in my opinion, ESPECIALLY Edifis (he sounds like an old Patrick Star) and notable padding (the Dutch dub cut out that trippy "When You're Eating Well, You're Well") but it still has higher production values than the Asterix the Gaul. The animation is more detailed and they actually bothered to animate characters walking in different directions though the character models all look like they've come from different movies, most notably the pirates and the songs are fun despite having no effect on the plot. The most notable thing however is that it knew what it was: a movie, first and foremost. It remains faithful to its source material whilst still adding enough necessary changes to make it more of a movie. Especially since Gaul was just the original comic in "movie" form. Asterix and Cleopatra is a good adaptation of one of Asterix's greatest adventures. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review duncan p Strange amongst the Asterix films for being the most musical, whereas most of the others contained no song sequences at all. Still, it was better than "Asterix the Gaul" was, at least, and had a couple of good gags and jokes in it. Again though, it's showing its age a bit. I am quite happy that it included some of the meta-elements of the books though; those sometimes tended to get neglected in the films.
