This is a gritty, mean, down and dirty crime story about gritty, mean, down and dirty criminals. It's also Johnson and Adkins' most ambitious film to date, as well as maybe their best.

While Avengement isn't exactly a classic in any regard, it's a step in the right direction for a new breed of British thumpfests that - if Adkins can wield his sensibilities correctly - may just begin to rival their Eastern origins.

While over the top with the fight scenes this film is highly entertaining. It has it all, shot guns, knives, machine guns, ball bats and more blood than the Red Cross. Waiting for Avengement 2.

An average British revenge film which features the forever versatile Scott Adkins, some nice action scenes and gritty display. Unfortunately it doesn't feel anything new, Craig Farebasses character has hardly any backstory and we get all the previous history in Adkins. Also some scenes go on for far to long. In conclusion though, it does feel well played and thought out which is different from the generic action genre.

The movie was really good from the second it started it got really into what the film was about, gory and action. It was a movie you can easily follow a lot of back story to it. It intrigues you into it the more it went on, what’s going to happen next? Is he going to get his revenge? The one thing that makes it a 4 star is the fact that they had really only two setting locations to it the prison and a pub most of the film is based in the pub. I was expecting there to be more of a story from when he got out of prison but it went straight to the pub - straight to the point, straight to revenge. I would highly recommend this film still, did not get bored of it at all.

Muito bom, aqueles filme recheado de lutas violentas e sangrentas, bem ao estilo hollywoodiano que amamos, pois as lutas, além de sangue e bem ensaiadas, exercem um contexto poderoso dentro do roteiro, que por sinal, foi curiosamente bem confeccionado com os flashbacks providencias e oportunos detalhando cada um das cicatrizes do protagonista e todo seus ódio e rancor que tiveram como desfecho uma excelente vingança, muito bem produzido e adoravelmente cativante...
