In the rapidly changing outskirts of Istanbul, Ayşe lives a quiet life with her brother, Rıdvan, who has Down syndrome. As the city expands and transforms around them, their bond is tested, and they must navigate a world that is becoming increasingly unfamiliar. "Ayşe" is a poignant and powerful story of family, love, and resilience in the face of change.

Ozgur A @ozaksu 6d The film follows a young woman struggling to care for her autistic brother, which suggests emotional depth, but the story never develops beyond the initial premise. Several characters appear and disappear without meaningful development or purpose. Just when it feels like the narrative might begin exploring something deeper, the film ends. Nothing changes for her brother. His situation, environment and future remain exactly the same. The love interest also leads nowhere. His final scene, where he drives off in a different direction, may suggest a change in his path, but it is never clearly shown. Themes like gentrification are briefly mentioned but never meaningfully explored. In the end, the film feels unfinished. Quiet storytelling can be powerful, but here it felt more empty than meaningful, as if the story stopped just as it might have begun. See more Read all reviews
