Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times An uneasy mix of bloodshed and sentimentality that rarely digs beneath the surface of gang mentality, much less its specific place within Asian American culture. Audience Member Baby fails on so many levels to achieve its goals. The film is poorly told on many fronts from the directing, to the writing. The acting is ok considering the kinds of characters being portrayed and I don't think it is the fault of the actors themselves that makes the characters so blah, but rather from what the actors are being told to do and how to act. There truly is nobody to root for in this film. You have a film about a bunch of Korean street punks, and while it seems like you're suppose to feel sory for this Baby character, that is never the case. It's too bad the film is such a let down. The subject matter can be very interesting, education and entertaining but Baby is none of those. The only real thing you can take from this film is... some people are just plain stupid. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member A GREAT gangster flick & something DEFINITELY worth buying or renting.I did NOT expect this movie to be as good as it was.A must see Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Moderately interesting low budget Asian American gang movie. It suffers from a low budget, adequate acting and a predictable story. Dark and bleak. It does develop the main characters well. Below average editing.
