Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Several engaging main characters and warm cross-generational relationships can't quite offset patchy storytelling and uncertain aims in "Back to the Fatherland." Jun 27, 2019 Full Review Ken Jaworowski New York Times The idea is interesting but the implementation is uneven in "Back to the Fatherland," a documentary that looks at two generations of Israelis: one is hopeful, the other wary. Jun 13, 2019 Full Review John DeFore The Hollywood Reporter Back to the Fatherland is too shallow to do justice to its psychological quest. Jun 13, 2019 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound This film tells the tale of grandparents and their grandchildren. Some who live in Israel and some who have moved to Germany or Austria in search of a better life. Audience Member Jews finally realizing that it is wrong to kill people and steal land. A larger percentage of Jews all over the world do not support Israel and her policies. And so they leave Israel to live a better life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/23/19 Full Review Sammo While it was good to hear even Israelis saying positive things about the Germans recognizing the ill deeds during WWII, there just wasn't enough footage to make us more absorbed. At spots, we just felt bored. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/19 Full Review Audience Member We need to stop attacking the Jewish community, we have to condemn Palestine. Isreal only defends themselves, they have a right to exist. Palestine has never agreed to a 2 state solution because they want a genocide. It's evil and we must show our support to the Jews. We must protect and defend our Jewish brothers and sisters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/10/19 Full Review Read all reviews
