The movie is a great metaphor for Plato's allegory of the cave. Also given a real zest being set and filmed in early 90's Australia. The tonality of abrasive accents and phrases from this location and era gives the film a uniqueness. A deeply creative and important psychological journey awaits for the viewer if they can stomach the first 30 minutes. Until the main character steps into the light.

...i don't know how to review this, haha. the beginning is very sad & quite disturbing, but there couldn't've been a happier ending. you watch this grown man - who's mentally still a child due to his awful parent(s) - start from nothing & figure out how to survive on his own amongst a bunch of strangers; I'm surprised he didn't get into more trouble than he did. some parts are hard to watch but it really was quite a hopeful journey. i watched this film a few weeks ago & still find myself thinking about it every once in a while. i don't think i'd recommend it to anyone i know, but I'm not sad i watched it.
