Sissy (Thais Valdés) wants to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a dancer at Havana's world-famous Tropicana cabaret. Her father, Candido (Enrique Molina), however, has had a falling out with the Tropicana's choreographer (Santiago Alfonso) and forbids Sissy to work there. Sissy promptly disregards this order. Meanwhile, after Candido accidentally hits a young man named Sergito (Vladimir Cruz) on the road with his truck, he brings the injured man home with him to recuperate.
