Shock Therapy R The moral of the story is to entertain your abuser in order to pay rent? This is a sad commentary on life. Shall we call this empowerment also? After all, the rent got paid. This movie is 100 mph in the wrong direction. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A refreshing change from an assembly line of movies about beauty queen daughters working for their ultra rich father's law firm. This is an old story that effects every sector of society. "Beauty Mark" is especially heartbreaking as it is so well portrayed by Auden Thornton, as a young mom stuck in the cogwheel of extreme poverty. A superb lead actress & supporting cast, so convincing that it's easy to forget they're acting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A+ Whoa! Heartfelt, confident & beautiful. Assured, compassionate direction supports an EXQUISITE performance from Ms. Auden Thornton -- absolutely wonderful. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The best in Van Nuys I definitely recommend this place Love their customer service very little wait on appointments .. and good prices Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Quite a surprise, as I wasn't expecting much. A fascinating look. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Beauty Mark is a powerful film. It brings a heart-breaking story to life with a thoughtful, nuanced script, compelling direction and masterful acting. The characters are absolutely real on the screen, complete with flaws that make them more sympathetic. The film could easily have been filled with caricatures and tropes, but it is not. It brings you into the lives of people who have been dealt difficult hands and leaves you feeling for them deeply. While the film progressed, I was enmeshed in the story, gripped with curiosity, wondering where its unpredictable path would lead as I rooted for Angie, the protagonist. During the credits, released from the tension of the story line, I broke down with empathy for Angie and the realization of how many people's lives resemble hers more than mine. I count my blessings and I highly recommend this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Though its pile-up of poverty, humiliation and bitterness threatens to make it a miserablist moral crusade, the film finds forward momentum in its protagonist, who is not yet ready to be destroyed by what the world has saddled her with. Oct 16, 2017 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Every part of this film that goes to an unsettling place or each opposing moment that shows glimmers of hope within disparity hinge on the light shining out of Auden Thornton's extraordinary performance. Rated: 4/5 Feb 14, 2019 Full Review Kt Schaefer Substream Magazine The film has a compassion for its subjects and shines a light on the small things that are so often left out of these kinds of stories. Rated: 4/5 Nov 8, 2018 Full Review Raquel Stecher Quelle Movies A timely story for the #MeToo era Aug 27, 2018 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat Beauty Mark is tonally odd at times, and not all the scenes make coherent sense. But its story and message are remarkable, the actors are excellent, and the realistic depiction of adult survivors of sexual abuse is heartfelt. Rated: B Nov 27, 2017 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies If Beauty Mark is able to do anything at all for viewers, it should be that the film gets people to start talking and have that conversation.
