John DeFore Hollywood Reporter The destruction of Los Angeles isn't enough to enliven this muddled road movie. Jan 22, 2013 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed A hidden 2013 gem, and one that warrants a watch for fans of classic road trip films. Oct 12, 2013 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher Smartly stylish, refracting familiar fictional events and themes through a little-used cinematic prism: that of women's perspectives. Jul 11, 2013 Full Review Kevin Carr Film School Rejects an honest, down-to-earth look at what might happen when everything around you crumbles, yet it manages to have its heart in the right place Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 2, 2013 Full Review Mike McGranaghan Aisle Seat Best Friends Forever isn't as deep as it thinks it is. Rated: 1.5 Jul 1, 2013 Full Review Alexander Lowe We Got This Covered Despite some very strong elements, the wavering focus of Best Friends Forever causes it to fall far short of its potential. Audience Member Really shallow and self important writing Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Thought at time it falls prey to typical buddy movie cliches, Best Friends Forever is a fresh take on nuclear apocalypse and female friendships. A great movie with strong female leads that pass the bechdel test Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Best Friends Forever. A Kickstarter project by Brea Grant and Vera Miao, Best Friends Forever follows two women (Brea and Vera) on a road trio from Los Angeles to Austin. During the trip, and initially unknown to both women, four nuclear weapons detonate in the United States. The film is understated, the acting top notch, and the plot a simple tale of friendship and resolve. I've seen it three times, my wife has watched it twice, and I've shown it to the rest of my family and several friends. Everyone has been amazed. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Best Friends Forever is basically a buddy road trip movie. What sets it apart from other road movies is that their is a nuclear apocalypse while they are traveling. Sort of a Thelma and Louise meets Mad Max combination except that nobody is driving around in muscle cars. Instead the two protagonists are crossing the desert in a Mercury Pacer. Brea Grant plays Harriet, a comic book artist who lives in LA with her best friend Reba (Vera Miao). Harriet is looking to make some changes in her life and has decided to move to Austin to work at a library and go back to school. She convinces Reba to come along with her on the road trip. While they are traveling, LA and several other major cities are destroyed by a nuclear attack. Since Harriet and Reba are in the middle of nowhere in the desert, they are unaware of the events that have taken place. They blissfully continue on their journey until they decide to pick up a group of hipsters who are hitchhiking. The young men end up stealing Harriet's car and all of her and Reba's belongings leaving them to fend for themselves. While they try and find their way back to civilization their friendship is tested as they try to work together to survive.
