      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

While definitely in line with some of Nicolas Cage's stranger efforts, Between Worlds is too silly and messy to call it good, even in a weird way.

Justin C Deserves 0 stars. But here we are Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review Andre G It was a decent movie. They could have done a lot more with this movie. I didn't like how the movie has all this stupid music in background throughout the entire movie. It made a lot of it seem cheesy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Steve C When Nick Cage movies are good, they're good, and vice-versa... You definitely can expect the latter in this B-movie... Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/23 Full Review john m Shockingly bad. We know what happens at the beginning but then must suffer through the most horrible script and acting for the big "reveal". Somebody needed to pay their monstou mortgage. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Keith S This one isn't at all bad. Potente is convincing as someone who is used to having out of body experiences, her first one is chillingly reimagined as she is shown as a teenager, trapped under ice. The daughter is convincingly played by Penelope Mitchell, and she is weird and hot somehow but pulls it off. I think Cage plays well in this feature he's smooth and convincing as Joe. I think it was a good gig for him Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/22/22 Full Review Audience Member This movie is definitely pretty bad 1.4 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com If you saw Mandy and wished more Nicolas Cage movies were dark, weird, and personal: watch Between Worlds and be careful what you wish for. Rated: .5/4 Dec 21, 2018 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Writer-director Maria Pulera aims for something with the comic grotesquerie of David Lynch - full of eccentric lowlifes and identity swapping - but a more straightforward plot. What she ends up with is ultimately too tame and under-thought. Dec 20, 2018 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter While not quite up to the outrageousness level of so many Cage vehicles in recent years, Between Worlds features enough WTF moments to satisfy the prolific actor's many fans who can't wait to see what he's up to next. Dec 20, 2018 Full Review Dan Tabor Cinapse Between Worlds may not have the surrealness or the haunting cinematography of Mandy. It's the kind of rare cinematic alchemy that no amount of planning and budget can create but happens once when all the planets align for one lucky director. May 29, 2020 Full Review Lael Loewenstein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) I'm sorry -- who does Nicolas Cage owe money to that he had to take this movie? Sep 13, 2019 Full Review Luis Fernando Galván En Filme The film doesn't remain enigmatic and engaging for long. [Full Review in Spanish] Rated: 1.5/5 Jun 10, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
