Emma B The amish women are wearing obvious eyeshadow and mascara. Weird mishmash of accents from all the characters. The men and women seemed like they were from different movies, the men looked and sounded amish but the women were in makeup with perfect hair. Terrible child actors that were barely intelligible, wooden performances from several characters. Dan sounded like a normal teenager, not Amish. The only performances I liked were Ella Mae and Laura Mayfield. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Toni A The performances in ‘The Shunning’ were commendable, showcasing a range of emotional depth that added to the film’s authenticity. However, the narrative would have benefited from a clearer resolution, providing a more definitive conclusion to the story’s arc and enhancing the overall viewing experience. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Tantan N Film review. This could have been so good. The actors were great. The scenes were great. But there was no build up in the beginning with the background and only a couple scenes to show some of it later. It also seemed like some linking scenes were left on the cutting room floor. For example, it didn't make sense that she got dressed into different clothes and walked through town, right past her birth mum, they never noticed each other and then suddenly it just cut to the Amish wedding. It also seemed as if she wasn't aware of the consequences of her actions which she would have been brought up to be well aware of. Would be willing to see a longer reedited version. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/12/24 Full Review Andy S (I'm Mistletoe Virus I'm saying I love this movie!) Another hallmark Television movie that nobody will ever remember. Another hallmark Television movie, one out of a dozen, with the same kind of set-up you always get with these kind of movies. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Super corny and an inaccurate picture of Amish life starting with the full-face make-up on the women and ending on the other side of ridiculous. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved the book series and the movie was good. I wish it would put more of the book into the movie, that is my only complaint.
