Karthik Kumar Hindustan Times Despite a problematic first half, the Atlee-directed Vijay starrer makes up in the second half with an emotionally rewarding end. Oct 9, 2023 Full Review Srinivasa Ramanujam The Hindu A colourful sports drama that just grazes the goal post...there are tonnes of packing material, bands, and confetti even, but inside, after you struggle your way to unpack layer after layer, you probably find a diya the size of your palm. Oct 9, 2023 Full Review Baradwaj Rangan Film Companion The screenplay could have been tighter, but it's still a model of how we can get serious even in the overblown world of a "mass" movie, and yet not forget to have fun. Oct 9, 2023 Full Review M Suganth The Times of India Even if the film reinforces the male saviour complex, you feel glad when a female character, an acid attack survivor, gets the loudest cheer. Calvin O The movie was good, how the women played the soccer ⚽ was great. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review Audience Member I have no words about this movie. The reason for that is because you cannot describe the movie in one single word. Atlee has made me cry cheer and all sorts of other feelings. This movie is the most best movie I had ever seen. I have heard that Bigil is the best movie so I decided to See what is so great about this movie. Turns out everything. So for next movie night I beg you watch Bigil. Because you might fall in love with it as much as I did. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/24 Full Review Dhanu K Such an overambitious film. 1,5 star for the Rayappan character only, which was exceptionally portrayed by Thalapathy Vijay. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/22 Full Review Audience Member No bicycles were harmed in the process of making this movie. Jesus fucking Christ and I thought only Hollywood makes pretentious and cringe woke movies. This piece of crap tried to promote women representation in soccer by making a joke of a story. The first half was just a cocktail of tonal shifts. 5 minutes it was happy and goofy, then 5 minutes later it's serious, then 5 minutes later it's goofy again. I had to question myself if these movies are serious or not. The second half was just a typical coach-player relationship that was done many times before, but dragged out to a miserable degree. It was so unbearable that I had to skip some of the music. Yeah, the musicals had fun dances, but man these directors do not know when to stop. There's virtually zero attempt at transitioning from music back to the story. The music just abruptly end and the story continued. The last musical was basically an ad that was too long. Again I question myself whether I'm watching a propaganda or a movie. Oh boy, this movie is about soccer, and the soccer game sequences were just comical. It's like some ripoff version of FIFA soccer that I download on my iPad to play whenever I got bored. Like I'm 100% sure the directors forgot that this is a movie, not a soccer game app. The amount of rainbow flicks and bicycle kicks were absurdly stupid and hilarious. Whenever I laughed, it was at how stupid the movie is. It would have been a great comedy if the movie didn't try to promote women representation in sports. Literally the director just make themselves look stupid and pretentious with this half-ass theme. Of course I cannot forget the over-the-top cringe fest of acting and cheesy dialogues. Oh man, I hate this movie so much, but it's still funny. 3-3.5/10 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Bigil Review U Starring Vijay ,Nayanthara,Kathir& yogi babu Rating=6/10 It was dedicated to all footballers Positive 1 Rayyapan vijay character 2 Yogi Babu comedy 3 Music 4 dance of Vijay Negative 1 Climax was like a game called Dream league soccer 2 It copied from other films called Kennedy club,Chak de India 3 It was predictable 4 Direction 5.Lag Verdict=Good performance by vijay but let down by poor direction and copied from many movies Bigil=boree Sabharish G Story:Michael, an aggressive young man, gives up his dream of becoming a footballer after his father's murder. However, a friend convinces him to coach a women's football team and turn his life around. Watch at your own risk!
