David K I'm not a huge fan of blaxploitation or the kung fu movie. They definitely have their places in cinema history. But this one is much better than it has a right to be. The script, the stunts, the sound, and cinematography are all excellent. If you're taking a dip into these genres and want to move beyond Super Fly or Shaft, this is not a bad next step. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This one is something I'd wanted to see for quite some time, especially after seeing the trailer on one of those 42nd Street Forever collections, so I was pleased to finally cross this Blaxploitation flick off the To-Watch Pile. Our lead is a mountain of a man, a nightclub owner who keeps a lion around as a pet and is willing to stand up to drug dealers when they try to muscle in on a black neighborhood. It all culminates in a great sequence of some evil people trapped in a city block and left to the locals for some street justice. Well worth a look. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A quintessential blaxploitation feature. Nothing original, but very well done. Instantly quotable and pretty much by the numbers - the white man comes in to put down the black man...you can't get more quintessential than that. Oh, and William Smith is amazing in this! :) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Cool blacksploitation movie about a bar owner who is keeping the drug dealers away from his block, oh, and did I forget to mention he has a pet lion! Yeah, its awesome, and the big street fight at the end is great. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member It was an entertaining movie but i did expect them to have a Samson referance from the bible which could have improved the story quite a bit, Cutting black samson's hair could resulted him in being weak but it was not mentioned. The fight scenes where good, quite entertaining but the music but some of the music played in a few action scenes where to suttle & slow, it was not enjoyable but it may be because this is the only Blacksploitaition movie i have seen & i may need to watch more to complete my understanding of these films but overall, this was a good flick that i love.
