Octavia H My gosh this movie sucked! The acting for one, totally awful! The fighting scenes are so poorly choreographed and so fake. The storyline ugh! I was very disappointed with how far this movie strayed from the original. For a sequel I expected better given it's a spin-off from a legendary classic. The movie was cringe, the storyline was okay, I guess. But I do not see much historical accuracy either. Another issue I had with the movie was Yurei himself. Men cannot and can never be WITCHES. He would be considered a sorcerer. Not a witch. There wasn't much link back to the original movie, barely any mention of the original characters other than the title '47 Ronin' being used a lot. I'm all about creativity but this movie made absolutely no sense. I have no idea how the characters were able to walk around in PUBLIC with weapons and not get arrested or noticed in any way other than the murder. It made no sense. The lighting and scenery were quite lovely, I do like the Neon Noir style going on in this movie, it's a pretty cool genre and I am all about pretty colours and scenery. I just wish that this movie was a lot better than what we got considering its a sequel to a really great movie classic... This movie was more targeted towards teens and not its original audience such as us adults who fell in love with the original film when it came out... Cinematography and visual effects were lousy as well as the acting of the young bloods. Storyline was focused on just killing but not as well executed as John Wick. I get that it was taking into consideration the modern setting but they should have let the 47 Ronin a classic as it is.
