Blame! will not be to every viewer's taste, given its favouring ideas and environments over heart and character, but it tells an interesting science fiction story. Go to Full Review

The entertainment offered here is on a lower level than "Knights of Sidonia" whose many episodes gave the opportunity for a much richer story, but Blame! remains a well-animated and quite fun effort, that will definitely satisfy fans of techno-action. Go to Full Review

Despite some unfortunately janky animation...and a predictable plot, Blame! is an effective film. Go to Full Review

It's concise with strong characters, it's visually stunning, and the world is large and open enough to encourage viewers to imagine what else could be hiding the movie's many border. Go to Full Review

Logan D 1d In the far future, humanity's automated systems have malfunctioned and now attempt to exterminate all of humanity. Resistance ensues. A very hard cyberpunk sci-fi with a grim atmosphere and featuring oppressive and alienating world building. The film does have thin characters but I think the coldness is intentional. The film is more about a feeling and existential dread than plot. Recommended See more Justin P Oct 31 Fine but feels like it should have been a series. See more Hex x Apr 30 It's not everyone's cup of tea, especially with the animation style, but I love it to bits. Some of it is so bad that it's good, Killy cracks me up all the time, and I LOVE this movie. I've rewatched it several times, and it gets funnier every time. See more Paul S Apr 9 I really enjoyed this movie. I think it's the perfect 'Netflix and chill' type of movie, and it has some great visuals and designs. I definitely recommend it for anime fans! See more Learning C Feb 11 I've read the manga since the volume 1 and loved it every bit. While Tsutomu Nihei's art style isn't that "pretty", his style matched the dark grim and massive universe of this future "earth." The main protagonist isn't a person with many words. He only speaks to people with a question, "Do you know human with Net Terminal Gene.." and that's almost the entire of his familiar lines throughout the volume. The movie has great cell-shading style 3D, but it failed to capture whole 10 volumes of the manga in to 106 minutes of movie. The story in the movie took place, probably in earliest volume of the manga, so those who doesn't read the manga probably confused about almost everything in it. I love the manga but the 3 star I gave for the movie explained how I feel about this adaptation. But for those who are interested with the manga, you should try to read it. It's one of those timeless classics. See more Cees T 09/20/2024 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild cell shading, The Matrix color scheme, Ghost in the Shell puppets, Doom titans, Akira/Trigun weapons, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within + Terminator plot, and a little Serial Experiments Lain style Battle Angel Alita. The camera moving more smoothly than the animation bothers me, but it's okay at double speed. 5/10 - Less tempo and world/gadget explanation than most of its inspiration. See more Read all reviews
