Jack Mathews Newsday Blast is finally a squandered opportunity, a lot of situation with very little comedy. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 3, 2018 Full Review Desson Thomson Washington Post Blast From the Past saves its best for first. Mar 21, 2014 Full Review John Hartl Seattle Times Fraser is the sweet, goofy engine that drives this movie. The script doesn't do enough with his reactions to a world that bears little relation to the Cold War planet Adam has been told about, but Fraser still manages to suggest volumes. Cindy V If you ever just want to watch a cute movie, sweetly funny, this is one. I rarely laugh out loud at movies, but I did have quite a few chuckles with this one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/25/25 Full Review thiago s Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/15/25 Full Review TJ M I seem to have watched a different movie than most. I found it hilarious with heaps of charm. I enjoy this movie with such a brilliant premise as much as "Pleasantville" & "Galaxy Quest". I didn't find the comedy uneven; many scenes are comedic throughout & others have a 1-2-3 punch towards the end. The casting is superb—all the way down to Sussman who played the deadpan funny butcher in just one scene. The script is superb with well-constructed scenes, and throughout the story, there's an undercurrent lovingly poking fun at Americana and human foibles & relationships (it perhaps helps to know Americana of the 50's-90’s—oh, those Pinkos!). It's a tricky story to get the right tone, and it would be easier than pie to fall flat. Kudos to the director, casting director, editor, & all those behind the scenes. These are my favorite comedic performances of Fraser & Silverstone. Their chemistry is more than swell too. Spacek & Walken are their usual greatness. Like Streep, Spacek should do more comedy (and why aren't Spacek & Streep in a witty comedy together???). Foley (always excellent) plays a happy, fun, sharp character. Since the 80's, I've often found films to worry about pacing too much, and the audience doesn't get to live with the characters enough; this can also be a fault of the writing. I don't have any complaints about this film, and I typically can make a list quickly. And what's wrong with a film with positive messages on being kind and appreciating life & love? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review Helene S Pretty fun and original premise, gotta love Christopher Walken, and pretty charming main character Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Mitch B I absolutely love this film. To me, it's a great time travel movie without...you know, the time travel aspect. Seeing the difference ebtween th last innocent era of the united S tates and the late 1990s was interesting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/01/25 Full Review JD S I have always enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. I genuinely fell better for watching it. I truly this it is a Brandon Frazer great. I really Alicia Silverstone in this too. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
