Recently divorced mom Lauren (Drew Barrymore) and widowed dad Jim (Adam Sandler) let their friends push them into a blind date, which goes disastrously wrong. Unsurprisingly, neither wants to see the other ever again. However, fate intervenes when both Jim and Lauren, unbeknown to each other, purchase one-half of the same vacation package at a South African resort; they and their children are forced to share the same suite and participate in a slew of family activities together.

Critics Consensus

Lurching between slapstick and schmaltz without showing much of a commitment to either, Blended commits the rare Sandler sin of provoking little more than boredom.

Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) Bland on the one hand, tacky on the other, Blended lives up to its name in more ways than one. Rated: 2/5 Jun 12, 2014 Full Review Eddie Cockrell The Australian It has become something of a tradition to dismiss the latest Adam Sandler movie outright or, if one is feeling particularly generous, damn it with faint praise. Blended is no exception to this strategy. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 6, 2014 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) [A] vomit-inducing blend of mawkish sentimentality and dead-on-arrival humour, all bundled up in a putrid package of festering family-friendly fun. Rated: 1/5 May 26, 2014 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Much of the humor is Sandler boilerplate stuff but a musical montage when Sandler realizes his daughter isn't just a tomboy anymore is funny and worth a look. Rated: 3/5 Feb 1, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Ignore the critics. Blended a return to form for Sandler. Rated: 3.5/4.0 Sep 3, 2020 Full Review Avaryl Halley Movie Bitches It's garbage. May 26, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Sean H The worst by far of the Sandler-Barrymore efforts. The gags here are mostly dead-on-arrival. Sandler seems intent to ruin every good joke with an immediate insult to the face, and he can't allow a tender moment alone without wanting to wreck it with an unwelcomed -- and unfunny -- zinger attempt, or the very, VERY overused Terry Crews running gag (it was funny the first time, but insultingly bad by the 10th time his singers appear). The movie is over produced and ... well, just overall trying too hard. This "could" have been a good movie, with proper editing and a little less desperation; The bones are there, and Sandler-Barrymore still have unmistakable chemistry. But this installment is just ... boring. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Shanna W This is one of my favourite films. A cosy comedy that my partner and I like to watch at least a couple times a year. Sure, some of the plot doesn’t add up (did they not have the same flight to Africa?), but that doesn’t take away from the charm. 5/5 looking forward to the next time we watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review Kayleigh S Absolutely no doubt an outstanding comedy for the family!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/25 Full Review Eduardo V Good background movie, simple, tacky but good to forget about today's miserable world.
